North Dakota woman killed in crash outside Twin Cities A woman from North Dakota was killed and three other people were injured in a four-vehicle crash just outside the Twin Cities Wednesday evening. The crash happened on eastbound Interstate 94 in Monticello, Minnesota, around 7:20 p.m., according to the state patrol. All four vehicles were heading in the same direction when "a rear-end collision occurred," the patrol said.

Two tornadoes touched down in Minnesota's cabin country during Monday's severe storms, the National Weather Service confirmed. According to preliminary damage surveys from the service, the first tornado touched down at 4:21 p.m. near Casino, Minnesota. It traveled 11.5 miles over 22 minutes before lifting in Crow Wing County between Love and Round lakes. Winds from the EF-1 tornado topped out at 100 mph, the NWS said.

Lawmakers and the public will gather at the Minnesota State Capitol Wednesday night to honor Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, who were fatally shot over the weekend in what authorities called a political assassination. A candlelight vigil for the Hortmans will take place on the steps of the Capitol from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the Minnesota House announced.
