MCCOMB, Miss. (WLBT) - The city of McComb remains under state scrutiny because it hasn’t kept track of how taxpayer money is being spent for nearly five years by failing to get audits completed. This failure to check the books since 2020 will cost the city an estimated $330,000. State law allows the State Auditor’s office to take that money and bring a firm in to get those finances sorted. Residents in the city have their own theories on why this lapse in accountability has taken place.
