JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Jackson Police will soon have another tool to help cut down on gunfire in the capital city. On Tuesday, the Jackson City Council approved an agreement with the Flock Group Inc. to provide “Flock Safety Raven” equipment to detect when and where shots are fired. Chief Joseph Wade said the equipment will be installed within the next 30 days and be in place for six months.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - With a large pot of federal funds “essentially gone,” JXN Water might need a loan to stay afloat until collections improve. Interim Third-Party Manager Ted Henifin spoke to WLBT last week, where he outlined JXN Water’s challenges, in particular, what’s going to happen once $150 million in flex funding runs out. Henifin has relied on the funds to help cover operations since taking over the city’s water system in late 2022.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba won’t say how much he’s raised for his legal defense. On Monday, the mayor told reporters that he would not say how much he’s raised even if he could. But he also won’t say because he wasn’t sure himself. “I wouldn’t do either one,” he said. “That’s not the public record... But also, I cannot tell you... I don’t know.”The mayor’s comments come weeks after WLBT learned about the formation of the Committee to Defend Chokwe Antar Lumumba.
