Mayor Malik Evans joined Rabbi Vogel for the annual tradition celebrating the Jewish community here in Rochester, lighting the Menorah that stands as a powerful symbol of hope, perseverance, and religious freedom. Rabbi Vogel talked about the significance of Hanukkah being celebrated in the City of Rochester.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Eating good can be difficult, especially when foods labeled as “healthy” aren’t necessarily healthy. To help people keep a nutritious diet, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) updated the definition of “healthy” foods. Under the new rule, for food to be labeled as “healthy” it must contain a certain amount of food from at least one major food group. This includes fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy, and protein.

Dec. 5, Trillium will be honoring World AIDS Day while also emphasizing the work done to help end the HIV and AIDS epidemic. Trillium was founded in 1989, originally as an HIV and AIDS clinic. It’s since expanded to serve everyone.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Dozens of volunteers gathered at Innovative Field Friday packing up boxes of donated food to be sent to local non-profit organizations. The Small Business Council hopes to meet the needs of more than 3,000 families this Thanksgiving. These boxes containing a variety of food items along with monetary donations will be given to non-profits to be distributed to local families.
