BURLINGTON - Pro-Palestine demonstrators disrupted a town hall held Monday by U.S. Rep Rick Larsen at Burlington-Edison High School. About three minutes into Larsen's opening remarks, an attendee stood up and shouted to Larsen, "You are complicit in genocide."The demonstrators stood up several other times to shout at Larsen about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Larsen continued to speak during the disruptions. "I think we've established that people think I'm complicit in genocide.

The Port of Skagit Board of Commissioners approved Tuesday a budget increase for the port's granary expansion project and passed a resolution approving the acquisition of new property. The property to be acquired is owned by Van Zyverden, Inc., which is a wholesaler of flower bulbs, according to the Port of Skagit's website. The approval of the property acquisition comes following a condemnation of the Van Zyverden building at 12035 Higgins Airport Way.

A bill that would have added a fifth judge to Skagit County Superior Court failed to make it out of the state Legislature. HB 1114 had support from local state legislators such as Rep. Debra Lekanoff, Rep. Alex Ramel, Rep. Sam Low, Rep. Clyde Shavers and Rep. Dave Paul. The bill never made it out of its state House of Representatives committee or to the Senate. "We are disappointed by the bill's failure to pass this session.
