Wednesday night in Wilkes-Barre, Rutger McGroarty and the Baby Pens were still basking in the glow of a wild overtime win that clinched a Calder Cup playoff spot when he was summoned to coach Kirk MacDonald’s office inside Mohegan Arena. Like the rest of his Wilkes-Barre/Scranton teammates, he chucked his bag onto the equipment cart that would haul their gear out to their bus, as the American Hockey League club was about to take off for two big games at Charlotte on the weekend.
