Pocatello resident Kevin Buetts is the 2024 world arm wrestling champion after he secured a first-place win in the fifth International Federation of Armwrestling (IFA) World Armwrestling Championships in Loutraki, Greece. Buetts, formerly a Pocatello police officer, beat out 17 other arm wrestlers in the men's heavyweight division, and bested many others along the way in order to qualify for the international competition.

PARIS — Brett Kearney, a local artist who has sold paintings across the United States and in the Middle East, hosted an exhibit in Paris, Idaho, on Saturday to showcase his new work. From noon to 8 p.m. on Aug. 17 at the Bear Lake Hermitage Gallery of Art and Ice Cream Shoppe, the community had an opportunity to meet Kearney and admire his newest paintings. Kearney said the works he showcased Saturday depicted mostly "the beauty and wonder of the world" around him.

AMERICAN FALLS — Doña Mir's Kitchen, a food truck serving chef-owner Mirta Gaona's take on traditional Mexican cuisine, has brought Gaona's entrepreneurial vision to life since opening earlier this year in May. Gaona said when she was a little girl growing up in Mexico she always admired the women she saw making food at parties and weddings. The women noticed her admiration and began inviting her to cook with them.
