IDAHO FALLS — Readers may have noticed a few new bylines at EastIdahoNews.com. Our newsroom recently had a shakeup due to the loss of longtime reporter Andrea Olson in January. She had her first baby and is devoting time to being a stay-at-home mom. However, you’ll still be seeing her byline occasionally, as she will be freelancing for us. We also recently lost reporter David Pace, who had been with us for about a year. He took a job as U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo’s public information officer.

As of 9:45 p.m., the crashed aircraft had been removed from the runway and it is now reopened. Anyone experiencing flight delays should contact their airline for the most up-to-date flight information. IDAHO FALLS — A single-engine private airplane crashed on the main Idaho Falls Regional Airport runway Thursday night. The crash occurred shortly before 7:50 p.m., according to an airport news release. The release says the crash occurred during landing.

AMMON — A section of North 25th East (Hitt Road) between 49th North and 81st North in Ammon is closed to all traffic due to a significant gas leak, caused by a vehicle that struck a junction line. The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Idaho Falls Fire Department and Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office are on scene and working with residents in the immediate area to move them safely away until the line can be shut off. The road closure is expected to last at least through the night.
