The City of Plattsburgh's Common Council approved the appointment of a new—and controversial—chief of police last Thursday in a 5-1 vote. Formerly a lieutenant, Jarrod Trombley assumed his new role Friday, making him the latest leader of a department that's had a revolving door of chiefs over the last several years. One police chief resigned in 2021 after being placed on administrative leave. A former Warren County sheriff served as interim leader for more than a year.

The editor-in-chief of Plattsburgh’s daily newspaper retired last week after four decades in local journalism. He says, hopefully, it’s for real this time. Joe LoTemplio previously retired from the Plattsburgh Press-Republican back in 2018. But after a short stint in a different field, he returned just four months later. "I was only 56 years old and I knew I had to work several more years," he said.

This Saturday, you’re going to hear quite a ruckus in Plattsburgh. Motorcycles, police cars and fire trucks will form motorcades to escort veterans embarking on a trip to Washington, D.C. with North Country Honor Flight.
