Warren Central PTSA organizers are seeking volunteers for their annual Warren Clean Up Day. The April 19 event drops volunteers in different neighborhoods across the township to help beautify the community. Volunteers can visit an online registration page to select from available openings, including near Washington Square Mall. The day begins with check-in and breakfast at Warren Central High School’s fieldhouse.

Registration is open for two summer programs for kids organized by Central Indiana nonprofit La Plaza. The Summer Discovery and Leadership Institute for Latino Youth programs run from June 16 to July 18. Both five-week programs on Indy’s east side will provide breakfast and lunch as well as teach academic and leadership skills. Summer Discovery is designed for students entering the first through sixth grades in the 2025-26 school year.

If the district loses money, the couple fears their jobs could be the first to go. “It’s more than just consolidating schools,” Adrea McCloud said.

INDIANAPOLIS (MIRROR INDY) — Indy teens looking to save up some money this summer could find an opportunity at their nearest YMCA. The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is hiring lifeguards, swim instructors and camp counselors to work this summer. Teens can learn more about the positions, apply and interview on site at a job fair this weekend. Three YMCA locations will have fairs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12. Each job fair will hire for positions across 10 Central Indiana branches.

Donnie Dearinger is a self-proclaimed book nerd. The fourth grader at William McKinley School 39 loves to read adventure and science fiction books and got hooked on the Japanese manga series, Yotsuba&!, after picking up the first couple titles in the series at his school library. “The series — it just kind of relates to me,” the 10-year-old said. “Running around, hanging out with animals.”But, before too long, Dearinger discovered his school didn’t have every book in the series.
