    Emergency vehicle involvedVirginia State Police press releaseVirginia State Police is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash involving a Fluvanna County emergency vehicle that occurred March 19 at 7:51 a.m. at the intersection of Rt. 15 (James Madison Highway) and Rt. 6 (East River Road) in Fluvanna County. A 2022 Ford F-550 Fluvanna County emergency vehicle was heading northbound on Rt. 15 when it was unable to avoid a 1998 Ford F-150 that had pulled into the intersection from Rt. 6.

    By Heather Michon, correspondentFluvanna County Director of Emergency Services James True was arrested on Friday (Jan. 10) on seven counts of sexual battery and two counts of assault and battery. All the charges are misdemeanors. County Attorney Daniel Whitten announced the arrest on Saturday, saying that True had turned himself in at the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office and was being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail. He is scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday (Jan. 14).

    By Carlos SantosEditorFluvanna County cross country runners Anna Amato, Ruby Frazier and Jack Jefferies excelled at the Virginia High School League’s Class 3 State Cross Country meet held Saturday (Nov. 16) in Blacksburg. Frazier, a junior, ran the girls 5000 meter race in 18.56.3 to place eighth out of 103 runners. Amato, a senior, finished 12th with a 19.11.7 time. They were the only girls running for Fluvanna.

    Virginia State Police press releaseThe Virginia State Police Appomattox Field Office, at the request of the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday (Oct. 11) in the 400 block of Gravel Hill Road. Deputies were initially called to the residence for an armed domestic disturbance. During the incident, the suspect was found to be hiding inside a wall in the structure.
