As I write my final blog for the Nursing Times, I am preparing for my final shift as a student midwife. As my journey as a student ends, now may be a good time to reflect on my time at university over the past three years and what I have learned about myself. When I started university I felt apprehensive about being a mature student, having no friends within my cohort, and embarking on a new career. However, within the first week, I found a group of women that I instantly connected with.

FORT ATKINSON — On Tuesday, Sept. 3, Fort Atkinson High School will host its third annual Back to School Night from 5-6:30 p.m. to help students and families prepare for a strong start to the school year. “We wanted to offer students and families an opportunity to come into the building before school started, as a way to walk their schedule and meet their teachers, and then also get involved with school right away,” Principal Leigh Ann Scheuerell said.

WATERTOWN – Daniel Kusel, Sr. had been running his tinsmith business in Germany for just under a decade when the 1848 Revolution in Germany broke out, driving him to bring his family to Wisconsin in 1849 – only a year after the territory became a state. There, he immediately opened a tinware business at 108 W. Main Street. The business grew to incorporate other metal materials and hardware, becoming the state’s oldest hardware shop until it closed in 1985.

FORT ATKINSON — The Fort Atkinson Club will be heading back in time on Friday, Aug. 23, for “Retro Night,” an event celebrating the music of the past and showcasing local businesses.
