The University of Florida's chapter of Students Demand Action hosted a vigil and rally on Wednesday for those killed and hurt in the Florida State University shooting, and demanded action for stricter gun laws. Two people were killed, and seven others were hurt in the April 17 shooting, officials said. Six of those were shot and one was hurt running away.

Attendees at the vigil expressed support for stricter gun laws and against House Bill 759, which seeks to lower the minimum age to purchase a firearm in Florida. Two people were killed, and seven others were injured, when the alleged gunman opened fire on April 17 on FSU's campus.

The warnings regarding the use of fireworks are commonly mentioned more diligently ahead of the 4th of July. One Florida man learned the hard way that there is no such thing as a safe firework. Gene Pope was holding a firework when it went off right in his hand back in 2022. He says life is not as easy as it used to be since losing most of his fingers at the hands of fireworks. Pope was working at a fireworks tent when the explosion happened, and he said he had a lot of experience with fireworks.

Yaupon, a holly bush, is North America’s only known caffeinated plant. In fact, it grows wild in Central Florida. At a farm in New Smyrna Beach, on 5.5 acres of land, Shelly Steele has found a way to turn the plants' leaves into a flavorful tea with lots of health benefits. "Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant superfood, it’s just a really great tasting tea that does amazing things for you, and that’s local," says Steele. After the leaves are harvested, they go through quite a process.
