WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — One person is injured after being shot while driving, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department. Officers said they responded to a shooting in the 1600 block of North Liberty Street on Tuesday around 5:19 p.m.Police said the victim was driving on Liberty Street when a person in another vehicle fired several rounds. One round hit the victim, who drove away from the scene and called police. There is no information on the victim and suspect's relationship at this time.

A man has died, and a woman is in critical condition following a house fire on Barbee Avenue in High Point, according to officials with the High Point Fire Department. Firefighters said it happened Sunday just before 8:30 p.m. They were called to the 600 block of Barbee Avenue to find heavy smoke emanating from the rear of a one-story home. Crews then made entry, finding one victim inside.

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — Officials with the Kernersville Fire Rescue Department battled a large scrap pile fire Sunday at the OmniSource recycling facility. On Sunday around 3:54 p.m. firefighters said they were called to the 1400 block of West Mountain Street for a reported fire. When they arrived, crews said they found a large scrap pile fully involved, with fire from the pile extending into an adjacent conveyor belt structure. The incident quickly escalated, promoting a multi-agency response.
