This advice follows a new study indicating that the feature can significantly reduce distracted driving and, ultimately, save lives. Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of fatal car crashes. According to the NHTSA, it contributes to approximately 9% of fatalities on the roads.

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — A 53-year-old man is in critical condition following an early morning shooting in Kernersville. Officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department responded to Pecan Lane on Sunday around 1:38 a.m. for a reported shooting. When they arrived, officers found 53-year-old Roderick Bethea with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began rendering aid until EMS arrived. Bethea was then transported to a local hospital, where he is currently in critical condition.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — An 18-year-old was left injured following a shooting on Niblick Drive in Winston-Salem on Saturday night. Officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department responded to the call around 6:29 p.m. They initially responded to the intersection of Grandview Club Road at Duffer Lane where they found 18-year-old Lucas Haile suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. Haile was transported to a local hospital where he is currently in critical/stable condition.

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — A Triad electrical company has released a statement after a large fire destroyed the building Saturday night, deeming it a total loss. The building was recognized as a historical Kernersville structure. It was built in 1897 as the Harmon and Reid Mill before becoming Caudill's Electrical Company in recent years.
