RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina Governor Josh Stein has issued a State of Emergency ahead of the upcoming winter storm. Stein shared the news in a Tuesday morning press conference, accompanied by North Carolina Department of Public Safety's Emergency Management Director William Ray and North Carolina Department of Transportation Secretary Joey Hopkins. Starting Wednesday, the winter storm is forecast to impact much of the state, particularly central and eastern parts of North Carolina.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Reality Goodwin, the Hampton mother accused of leaving her three young children in a sinking car in Newport News has been sentenced after being found guilty on multiple charges. Goodwin was found guilty of four counts of assault on law enforcement, each resulting in a 12-month sentence. All of that time has been suspended. She was also found guilty on three counts of child abuse and neglect, each carrying a five year sentence; all of that time was suspended as well.

GLOUCESTER, Va. — A man was arrested on Tuesday for multiple sex crimes against a child in Gloucester County. According to the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office (GCSO), they received an anonymous tip on Nov. 28 that an unidentified 40-year-old man – late identified as Jeffrey Masnaghetti of Salem City, Virginia – was victimizing a girl in Gloucester County. The tip indicated that Masnaghetti had sexual contact with the girl and may possess explicit photographs or videos of the incident.

NORFOLK, Va. — Heather Cummings and Clifton Cummings, the mother and son charged with conspiracy to commit murder and the second-degree murder of an 81-year-old Norfolk woman waived their preliminary hearings Monday. The two will now face a grand jury on Jan 2. Court documents and an obituary revealed that Heather, 53, and Clifton, 24, were the daughter and grandson of Cleo Loizides, the woman killed at a Norfolk senior living home.
