ROUND ROCK, Texas (KWTX) - The Midway Panthers took home 6A baseball state championship after taking down Atascocita, 6-2 in the title game on Saturday. Junior Brody Potts was named Championship Game MVP after throwing 4.2 innings of scoreless relief. The win marks Midway’s second state championship title in program history (2003). With both Midway baseball and softball winning state championships, Midway becomes the ninth school in UIL history to win state titles in both sports in the same year.

WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Chicago Bears defensive tackle and Waco native Andrew Billings, along with Academy Sports + Outdoors and the Billings Family Find-A-Way Foundation, partnered to surprise 20 local kids from the Andrew Billings Youth Football Camp with a $5,000 shopping spree. Each of the 20 athletes received a $250 gift card to shop at Academy Sports + Outdoors for new football gear, sports equipment, clothing and shoes.

WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The One Back Offensive returned to Waco for year two, doubling in size and relocating from the Metroplex to Central Texas. High school football coach and One Back clinic founder Andrew Gochis put on the inaugural clinic last summer. The clinic was started after the annual Air Raid clinic skipped its stop in Texas and moved out to the west coast.

WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The Texas Sports Hall of Fame Selection Committee has selected the candidates for both the Primary and Veterans Ballot for their Class of 2026. The 2026 ballot includes 2012 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel, longtime TCU head football coach Gary Patterson, and current Baylor acrobatics and tumbling head coach Felecia Mulkey. The TSHOF will induct their selected member class on April 18, 2026. Voting begins on July 16 and will end on August 16 for TSHOF members.

MIDWAY, Texas (KWTX) - During an all-time weekend for Midway sports, the Panthers baseball team clinched its spot in the 6A state title game after taking down Prosper, 4-2, on Saturday in Cleburne. In a decisive Game 3 of the semifinal series, the Panthers scored two quick runs in the first inning and added two more in the fourth. Midway will play for a state title for the first time since 2005. The Panthers will take on Atascocita next Saturday at 4 p.m. in Round Rock. Copyright 2025 KWTX.
