This upcoming Mother’s Day has been 36 years in the making for Coshenda Clark. While it may technically be the second one with her long-lost son, it is the first after a year of learning about each other. And the first of many more to come. Dyon “Mojo” Brooks may have grabbed success with his “Unhand Me Now” phrase, but he doesn’t plan on letting that success go. The Chicago native is an actor, writer, producer, and stand-up comedian who has worked long and hard developing his craft. All that hard work has paid off, as Brooks brings his talent to the Triad on Mike Epps’ “We Them Ones” comedy tour on Saturday, March 29 at the First Horizon Coliseum, located at 1921 W. Gate City Blvd.

There will be brick-made masterpieces on display in the Triad next weekend, and organizers are hoping that residents will come and build their dream masterpieces. The Winston-Salem Brick Convention will be held on April 5 and 6 at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds, located at 569 Fairgrounds Boulevard, due to the persistence of some serious LEGO fans who asked for their presence in the Triad.

Triad residents and agencies will honor those who’ve lost their lives to drug overdose this week. The City of Greensboro’s Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion team and the Guilford County Division of Public Health will host a Black Balloon Day event on Thursday, March 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. at LeBauer Park in Downtown Greensboro, located at 208 N. Thousands of Triad residents will head to the Steven Tanger Center of Performing Arts to watch “MJ: The Musical,” but for one resident it will be extra special. Greensboro native Avilon Trust Tate will also be at the show, but this time it will be onstage. “I remember the first time we saw it on Broadway in 2022. We went as a family and I remember thinking ‘This is one of the shows that I need to be a part of.’ So to actually be in that show, it’s like a full circle moment.
