1. IntroductionPorcine circovirus (PCV) is a small, non-enveloped, single-stranded DNA virus. Four species of PCV have been formally accepted, including PCV1, PCV2, PCV3, and PCV4. PCV3 was first reported in 2016 on a farm in North Carolina (USA) [1,2]. However, according to several retrospective studies, it has been circulating in pig farms for almost half a century [3].
