In this week's episode of The Game Informer Show, returning guest Eric Van Allen (Axe of the Blood God, IGN, Normandy FM) joins us for a Nintendo Switch 2 review discussion, a cloning survival management game called The Alters, and the cooperative first-person shooter Control spin-off, FBC Firebreak. Beforehand, we share even more of our favorite upcoming games we recently played at Summer Game Fest. The Game Informer Show is a weekly podcast covering the video game industry.

Today is an important day.Game Informer magazine subscriptions are back! And so is the Game Informer Show podcast! We recorded our first episode earlier this week before all the Summer Game Fest announcements and before we had Switch 2s in our hands. Apologies for not talking about the absolute latest in video game news, but this first episode back was always meant to be a catch-up and a rundown of what to expect.

Social deduction games are all the rage these days, thanks to viral hits like Among Us, and today, during Summer Game Fest, Square Enix announced its plans to release its own take on the genre. Killer Inn is an asymmetrical action game where 24 players enter a mansion, secretly divided into two factions – 8 wolves and 16 sheep. Throughout a match, players will lie, steal, and murder to claim victory over the other secret group.

Alongside the rest of the magazine and website, The Game Informer Show podcast took an unexpected hiatus last year. We've been hard at work getting our feet back under us, making lots of behind-the-scenes efforts on the website, and working toward bringing back the physical magazine. It's kept us busy! But ahead of the magazine officially returning, Summer Game Fest activities, and the launch of Switch 2, we wanted to make sure we had an outlet to share our conversations and have you listen in.

Nioh, the intense action RPG from Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo, is getting a third entry. Unlike the last two games, this one includes a split combat style, allowing you to swap between samurai and ninja styles. You can get a look for yourself with the trailer below. The ninja style looks to be more fluid and acrobatic than the game's standard style, and in one shot, we can even see the player swap mid-battle.
