Police have cordoned off a road in Walton following an incident. Several officers are at the scene on City Road this evening (Thursday). A police cordon is currently in place on City Road near to where it meets Keith Avenue. Several houses and an off licence can be seen inside the cordon.

Road closures are in place on the M6 due to a lorry fire. Drivers are facing delays of 50 minutes on the motorway this afternoon following the blaze between junction 31 for Preston and junction 30 for Bamber Bridge. National Highways North West said three of four lanes are currently closed on the motorway, with approximately 5.5 miles of congestion on the approach. Photos show firefighters at the scene and smoke coming from a lorry.

Sullivan's conviction was quashed following the longest miscarriage of justice in UK historyA man who has served 38 years in prison for the murder of Diane Sindall has had his conviction quashed after new DNA evidence emerged. Peter Sullivan, now 68, was convicted of killing barmaid and florist Diane in an alleyway in Birkenhead on August 1 1986. Merseyside Police later said it was one of the worst murder cases they had worked on due to the extent of Ms Sindall's injuries.
