SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) — A very wet and stormy weather pattern is setting up for central Illinois. A potent low pressure system is churning across the Upper Midwest, and it will push a sharp cold front into Illinois late Friday night. Before the cold front arrives, gusty southerly winds are transporting unseasonably warm and humid air up into central Illinois, allowing temperatures to skyrocket with afternoon highs well into the 70s.

We have a pretty sunset over Springfield this evening, and if you are looking to the sky tonight, you might see the huge strawberry full moon. https://t.co/ccQViG5WxU

If you are planning to go to the Sangamon County Fair on Thursday, expect dry weather but increasing clouds and staying warm & muggy with highs in the mid to upper 80s. https://t.co/irtC3zWrkj

It's dry right now, and the weather will be rain-free for a little bit longer before rain returns later in the week. If you don't mind the warm, muggy temperatures in the 80s, you should be okay to mow the lawn and get caught up on yard work. https://t.co/JZD1kxemIh
