Unlike intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), where only one sperm is injected, conventional IVF insemination involves the co-incubation of oocytes with thousands of sperm [1]. As a result, polyspermy fertilization, leading to the formation of three or multiple pronuclei (3PN/MPN) zygotes, is commonly observed in conventional IVF cycles [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7]. These abnormally fertilized gametes cannot be transferred, thus decreasing the chances of pregnancy [8], [9].
