Prospect Records and D to Z Presents concert unifies art and awareness, raising money for Medical Aid for Palestinians

On Saturday, Feb. 15, Prospect Records, Georgetown’s student-run record company, and D to Z Presents, a student radio show, hosted a benefit concert for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP). The concert, hosted in the Leavey Center’s Bulldog Alley, included performances from local D.C. band Pinky Lemon and student bands Wonk, Sense Memory, and Baltimore Avenue. The show drew over 100 people in attendance and, through ticketing and donations, was able to raise over $1,000 for MAP.

Walking into the Black Cat felt like a hug. After visiting on dozens of occasions over two years of living in D.C., the black and red checkerboard dance floor has been forever trapped in my memory. From pop-punk dance parties to local bands to sold-out shows, this venue has welcomed me with open arms since my freshman fall. But today, I had no idea what to expect. Frankie and the Witch Fingers and Wine Lips had both crossed my playlists in the past but had never become a staple in my rotation.
