On Wednesday, the Washington Wizards (9-44, 15th in the Eastern Conference) took on the Indiana Pacers (29-23, fourth in the Eastern Conference) in their last game before the All-Star Break and were downed by a late Indiana comeback 134-130 at Capital One Arena. The Wizards came in on a ten-game at-home losing streak almost a week after prioritizing a high-lottery draft pick at the trade deadline rather than salary cap space.

As the spring semester begins, the Voice looks back on the highlights and lowlights from all the active fall sports last semester. Nine women’s teams and eight men’s teams competed for Georgetown over 10 different disciplines in the busiest season for Hoya sports, providing plenty of inspiring, or, at minimum, entertaining storylines. Cross CountryGeorgetown’s men’s and women’s cross country teams had a strong 2024 season, capped off by competing at the NCAA Championships in November.

1:The UConn dynasty continues as usual. Geno Auriemma’s Huskies, ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press preseason top 25, reached the Final Four last season despite multiple injuries to key players. They also went undefeated in the BIG EAST (18-0) and 33-6 overall. This season, Paige Bueckers will be hell-bent on winning March Madness in her final year of eligibility.

Georgetown football (5-3, 2-1 Patriot League) held off the Bucknell Bison’s late push (3-5, 1-1 Patriot League) to win a dramatic game 21-20. The Hoyas trailed early, but figured out how to slow down the Bucknell offense in the second half and held onto the win to move into second place in the conference. Bucknell scored twice to open up a 14-0 lead as the second quarter began.

The Washington Wizards (0-2) fall to the Cleveland Cavaliers (3-0) 135-116. As the doors of Capital One opened to the second game of the Wizards season, the team debuted their new black and red “district” jerseys for their matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers, looking to course correct after their loss to the NBA Champion Boston Celtics. While Washington ultimately did not pull off the win, the Wizards’ rookies showed promising flashes, giving hope for this rebuilding season.
