    Heidi Redd is a local legend. Many may recognize the last name Redd, which belongs to an established family of ranchers based mostly out of La Sal. In 2023, Redd published a memoir called “A Cowgirl’s Conservation Journey,” written along with Larisa Bowen, a writer with the nonprofit The Nature Conservancy. The book recounts Redd’s gritty adventures and is laced with a love that extends from the rock features of the region to the cowhands who have worked on the ranch.

    The Grand County High School Girls Tennis Team finished their season this past weekend at the 3A state tournament in SLC. 2A schools are combined with 3A schools at the state tournament to increase the number of overall teams in the pool. The varsity girls competed in the first round of the tournament at Brighton High School on Thursday. The Lady Red Devils had some very tough match-ups and hard-fought games. At the end of the day, they came away with one win that would advance to the next day.

    Since 2006, the Moab Ho Down Mountain Bike Festival has drawn locals and visitors alike for multiple days of unique cycling events. After a four-year hiatus, the Ho Down will return, running from October 24 to 27 with a jam-packed slate of activities for riders of all skill levels. Tracy Bentley started the Ho Down in 2006 after seeing other local mountain biking events quit.

    Through this fall and winter, the Museum is proud to exhibit “Topaz Stories: Remembering the Japanese American Incarceration” in tandem with “A Moab Prison Camp,” lending a state-wide perspective to this dark period of American history during WWII. The Friends of Topaz collected numerous oral histories and personal reminiscences from survivors and descendants; however, not all are currently featured in the Moab Museum space.
