There’s always next season. Sometimes it feels like it would be a good idea to get that sentiment translated into Latin and added to Norwich City’s badge. Any realistic hope of the Canaries finishing in the Championship’s top six were extinguished a few weeks ago. It leaves City supporters hoping for better times ahead, but it was ever thus. Johannes Hoff Thorup has spent much of his first season as head coach talking about building a project.

When Johannes Hoff Thorup insisted last week that Norwich City remained play-off contenders it was hard not to scoff. They had won one of their previous eight matches, were eight points shy of the top six and had some daunting fixtures on the horizon. Then they went and beat West Brom and now JHT’s optimism doesn’t seem quite as far-fetched. It's still going to take a monumental effort.

It’s at this point during a long drive that you assume you are starting to hallucinate. 🍦🐘

JHT: “That’s been the story of our season. I am tired that our defensive line cannot keep troubles away.” ON JURASEK INJURY: “It’s super, super frustrating. We spend time & money to bring in a fantastic football player and we’ve used him for 60 minutes”
