Laura DevlinBBC News, SuffolkThe remains of a Late Bronze Age settlement "of considerable significance" were uncovered during the development of a new road, archaeologists said. A cremation cemetery with 18 burials, "substantial" pottery items and two roundhouses were found during excavations for Europa Way, Ipswich, which opened last month. Suffolk County Council said it indicated a 3,000-year-old settlement with a mixed agricultural economy, including cereal production and cattle breeding.

A former Dundee pub which was a haunt for football fans is set to be converted into a convenience store. The Airlie Arms, on Dundonald Street, closed its doors last year. The Stobswell pub was a popular fixture for football fans due its close proximity to both Tannadice and Dens Park. A planning application has now been lodged with Dundee City Council seeking permission to convert it into a licensed grocer with ‘external refrigeration plant’.

Scaffolding around the former Parky’s store in Dundee city centre has finally been removed after being up for six years. The scaffolding was erected at the front of the Seagate building after structural defects were identified in November 2018. This came after a report commissioned by the owners of the nine flats above the store found issues with wall ties serving the front facade of the building.

An elderly Monifieth couple fear they are “stuck” in the home they have lived in for 60 years after it was found to have been built using Raac. Jim Tait and his wife Ann have lived in their Monifieth house since 1965. They first moved in as council tenants before buying the property in the 1990s. The pensioners had planned to sell the Milton Street house in order to move into a single storey retirement home.

There are fears Balmossie fire station in Broughty Ferry could be axed as chiefs confirm it is on the list of locations being considered for change. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is currently carrying out a review into their resources, including numbers of staff, appliances and stations. This, they say, is to ensure resources are matched to “operational risk and demand” across Scotland.
