By Chris Halef Halifax Regional Police say they've arrested five people in connection to stolen alcohol. On Wednesday at roughly 5 a.m., officers searched a home on Allan Street in Halifax in connection to an ongoing weapons investigation. As a result, five people were arrested and police seized property but no weapons were found. HRP says the investigation is ongoing and charges are anticipated.

The report from the C.D. Howe Institute assessed the timeliness and clarity of city budgets, including whether municipalities conformed to public sector accounting standards.

Regional police have laid stunting charges against two different drivers following separate incidents earlier this week. On Sunday morning, an officer caught a vehicle heading inbound to Halifax on the MacDonald Bridge at a speed of 110 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. Police said a 37-year-old man was ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act. Then on Monday afternoon, an officer caught a vehicle on Victoria Road at Highway 111, going 119 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

Nova Scotia RCMP is asking for the public's help in finding who is responsible for some recent lobster thefts over the weekend. On Sunday, police responded to a report of a break and enter at a a commercial building on Peter Dugas Road in Mavillette. Mounties said that sometime between 5 p.m. on April 12 and 8:30 a.m. on April 13, someone damaged a garage door, accessed the building, and stole two crates of live lobsters. The value of the lobsters is over $2000.

The murder of a 23-year-old Truro man has been added to the province's rewards for major unsolved crimes program. On Jan. 16, 2024, police received a report that Zachery Vaughan Kellock went missing and was last seen at a home on Millbrook First Nation. Police believe criminality was involved in his disappearance, as his body has not been recovered. Charges have not been laid. "Someone may have the missing piece that investigators need," said Becky Druhan, Attorney General and Minister of Justice.
