    The province has signed agreements with two universities in Lebanon to bring family doctors to Nova Scotia. Premier Tim Houston announced Wednesday that a five-year memorandum of agreement with the Lebanese American University in Beirut commits the university to sending 10 ready-to-practise physicians to Nova Scotia. Two doctors from the university are expected to arrive in the province each year under the agreement.

    A sudden death in Dartmouth last year has been ruled a homicide, according to Halifax Regional Police. On Dec. 22, 2024, officers responded to Geary Street where a man had been assaulted by a woman. Police said paramedics responded but the man declined medical attention and further police investigation. A few days later on Dec. 26, police responded to another call to Geary Street where the same man was found dead in a tent. He was identified as 56-year-old Jeffrey Alexander Emmerson.

    Screening at Halifax Stanfield International Airport will be quicker this summer with the addition of new CT technology. The Halifax International Airport Authority has added a fifth security screening line-up from four-in anticipation of the busy summer travel season. In a release, the authority says the new line includes CT technology at the domestic and international screening area.

    A Nova Scotia RCMP officer, who is already facing multiple sex-related offences, is facing a new sexual assault charge. According to the Serious Incident Response Team, it received a referral from the RCMP after a woman said she was sexually assaulted by one of their officers in May 2024. The two were known to each other. On Monday, Constable William McNutt was charged with sexual assault and will appear in provincial court in Shubenacadie in August.
