Former Top Gear presenter Chris Harris will narrate a new documentary focusing on the life of former Ferrari chief Luca Montezemolo, due for release in cinemas later this year. Luca: Seeing Red tells the story of how the former Maranello boss transformed the fortunes of both its Formula 1 team and road car concerns across two stints, beginning in 1973 and eventually ending in 2014.

With a history spanning four decades, it’s logical that the M5 has had a variety of engines. The sports sedan used inline-sixes in the E28 and E34 generations before swapping to a larger V8 for the E39. Then the mighty V10 came along in the E60, but BMW downsized to a V8 for the subsequent F10. It’s been using eight-cylinder engines ever since as the F90 and G90 both have the same cylinder count. A new video shows all seven generations of the M5 doing a sound check.

In BMWBLOG’s test with the new M5, the super sedan took 3.6 seconds to hit 60 mph from a standstill. That’s a bit disappointing considering BMW claims the job is done in only 3.4 seconds. However, the quoted official time is in ideal conditions, which wasn’t the case in our acceleration test. Not only was the road surface less than ideal but the tires were cold. Consequently, the grip wasn’t great, resulting in wheel spin.

Tank, boat, airplane—these are just a few of the terms that flooded social media when describing the new 2025 BMW M5. And, to be fair, they’re not entirely off the mark. Weighing in at a massive 5,390 lbs, the new G90 M5 Sedan is nearly 1,000 lbs heavier than the outgoing F90 model, placing it in a class of its own. Back in April, we had a brief test of an M5 prototype on the track, which confirmed that this M5 feels more like a comfortable daily driver than a track weapon.

Still the most powerful BMW production model ever with a gasoline-only setup, the M5 is a special car. It received Chris Harris’ stamp of approval a few years ago when he bought the super sedan. The reputable journalist parted ways with his Frozen Deep Green rocket in August 2023. Now, the very same car is up for grabs again. When BMW originally announced the M5 CS in the UK back in January 2021, they set the price at £140,780. Last year, Harris sold his car for £110,500.
