A new restaurant in Ankeny offers a street food-inspired experience with shrimp pancakes, curried beef sandwiches, spicy coconut soup and more dishes from east and southeast Asian countries. Hawker's Kitchen, at 1975 N. Ankeny Blvd. off Northeast 18th Street, pays homage to street food culture and Singapore's iconic hawker centers, where people gather to dine in open-air food courts. The restaurant features dishes from various cuisines across Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Japan.

Two candidates are running for an open seat to represent Iowa House District 51, which includes Nevada, Maxwell and Huxley.
