    1. IntroductionThe ‘Principle of Indifference’ (PI) is the intuitive principle that (in the absence of other evidence) an unbiased estimate of the outcome of a test will assign equal probabilities to the various possible outcomes. This appears to be a self-evident idea which seems to underpin all rational approaches to estimating probabilities.
