GREENVILLE — Calhoun Warriors defeated Gibault Catholic Varsity Hawks 5-1 on Wednesday at Robert E. Smith Field in the 1A IHSA Greenville Sectional Baseball Semifinal game. The Warriors took the lead in the third inning when an error allowed them to score one run. Jack Goode earned the win for Calhoun, pitching seven innings with four hits and one unearned run, striking out two and walking three.

GREENVILLE - Father McGivney Catholic Varsity Griffins defeated Christ Our Rock Lutheran Stallions 17-2 Wednesday at Greenville University, in the 1A IHSA Sectional Baseball Semifinals. The Griffins took an early lead in the top of the first inning, capitalizing on a fielder’s choice and a series of timely singles by Justin Terhaar, Ben Sink, and Ty Etcheson that resulted in six runs.

O'FALLON, Ill. — O'Fallon secured a 1-0 victory over Edwardsville in the IHSA Girls Soccer Sectional Semifinals Monday night, advancing to the next round after a tightly contested match on O'Fallon’s home field. The two teams met for the third time this season, having split their regular-season meetings. Edwardsville fell 2-1 at home on March 27 but rebounded with a 2-1 win at O'Fallon on May 6. Monday’s semifinal was marked by strong defensive play from both sides.

CHARLESTON - Father McGivney Catholic's Elana Rybak won the Class 1A championship in the 800 meters and 1,600 meters, while the Triad 4x100 meter relay team won the Class 2A title in the race, and other local athletes performed well in the IHSA girls state track meet finals, held Saturday at Eastern Illinois University's O'Brien Stadium in Charleston.

CHARLESTON - Triad High School’s Lady Knights captured the 2A state championship in the 4 x 100-meter relay at the state track meet, setting a new school record with a time of 47.39 seconds. The relay team, composed of Addie Field, Mikayla Niehaus, Izzy Stein, and Sophia Schardan, secured first place in the event, marking a significant achievement for the school. In addition to the relay victory, Schardan earned second place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.93 seconds.
