EDWARDSVILLE — The Edwardsville Tigers secured a 7-6 victory over the Belleville East Lancers on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, scoring the winning run on the final play of the game in the IHSA Sectional Semifinal, which was held in Mascoutah. Trailing 4-0 early in the second inning, Edwardsville mounted a comeback against Belleville East. The Lancers initially took the lead in the top of the second when an error, a single by Ary Kohler, and a home run by Abi Monroe combined to put four runs on the board.

CHARLESTON - Local track and field athletes fared well, and in some cases, they won individual state championships in the IHSA Boys State Track Finals, held Saturday at O'Brien Stadium on the campus of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. In the Class 1A team results, Morrison won the team title with 60 points, Tuscola was a distant second at 35 points, and Rockford Christian tied for third with Shelbyville, both having 32 points.

CHARLESTON - Chaz Oberkfell of Gillespie opened the IHSA Class 1A State Boys Track and Field Meet on Saturday, May 31, 2025, with a strong performance in the 3,200-meter run, finishing second with a time of 9:38.14. The meet at Charleston draws top high school distance runners from across the state. Nicolai Martino of Winnebago won the Class 1A 3,200 meters, clocking in at 9:33.86.
