A draft assessment of the stadium by the Tasmanian Planning Commission, released last week, underscored a range of planning issues with the proposed Macquarie Point stadium, and determined it would cost more than $1 billion to build and also potentially risk Tasmania's credit rating.

Senator Lambie has long advocated for Tasmania's AFL team, the Devils, to be based in Launceston, and is now seeking advice on how a roof could be added to York Park.
