Environment Canada has issued a Tornado Watch for the Pipestone, Souris and Virden regions northward of the Trans Canada Highway. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for the Melita, Deloraine and Boissevain regions. "A low pressure system is moving into Southeast Saskatchewan which will trigger severe thunderstorms this afternoon," stated the Watch. "These severe thunderstorms will then move into Southwest Manitoba by the early evening.

Rhineland Municipality has taken steps to repair significant frost boils that developed earlier this Spring along portions of Road 9 West. "Over the past three years Rhineland has, with the help from a Federal grant, been upgrading the priority grain roads system," explained Reeve Don Wiebe. "This year, particularly on Road 9 West, numerous frost boils have reappeared. These frost boils are a real traffic hazard.

It's been years in discussion, but after a tremendous amount of work by staff and council, the City of Morden is ready to make an announcement about the future of wastewater treatment in the city. "Over the years and many months, we've looked at different treatment options, and we've also looked at many different site locations," explained Morden Mayor Nancy Penner.
