Gradie Spiers made off with groceries worth more than £700 in a series of thefts from Co-op stores in Southampton and North Baddesley. His crime spree began on January 4 2024, when he stole items together valued at £111.60. Two days later, the defendant walked out of another Co-op shop without paying for groceries worth £158.55. Spiers stole goods worth £144.25 on January 11, items valued at £155.90 on January 12, and products valued at £67.70 on January 13.

Appearing at Southampton Crown Court, Trevor Stanley Northover, 73, admitted sexually touching a child under the age of 13 and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. The two offences were committed in March 2023, the court was told. Northover, of Knightstone Grange in Hythe, was remanded on conditional bail until August 1 to enable a pre-sentence report to be prepared. Gemma White, mitigating, said her client was having treatment for cancer and was due to see a consultant.

DARREN HODGKINSON, 33, of Millbrook Road East, Southampton, pleaded guilty to assaulting emergency worker in Southampton on December 26 2024. Fined £120 and detained until court rose in default of payment.

The 14-year-old girl, who cannot be named because of her age, appeared at Southampton Youth Court on Monday, May 12. With her father sitting beside her, she pleaded guilty to a variety of offences including theft, assault, and criminal damage. She was originally accused of 31 crimes but some of the allegations were later withdrawn, the court heard. Her offending took place at several locations in February and March of this year, including branches of Tesco and Burger King.

4 1/1 Soaring bills are threatening the future of the New Forest and Hampshire County Show - 125 years after it was first held. Organizers say they need to cut the cost of staging the three-day spectacular, which draws more than 85,000 spectators from across the south. Based at the 230-acre New Park in Brockenhurst, the show uses a number of temporary facilities that have to be hired each year. The bill for equipping the huge venue has soared in the past few years.
