Police have found parts of a vehicle at the Hennops River in Centurion, but it can not be confirmed yet if they belong to the VW Polo car that the three deceased police officers were traveling in. The bodies of the officers were retrieved from the river on Tuesday after they went missing for more than five days.

The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial resumes in the High Court in Pretoria on Monday. Five men are on trial for the 2014 murder of the Bafana Bafana captain who was shot and killed while at Kelly Khumalo’s parental home in Vosloorus, on Gauteng’s East Rand. Defence counsel Advocate Charles Mnisi had asked the court for more time to cross-examine lead investigator, Brigadier Bongani Gininda, on behalf of accused number 1, Muzi Sibiya.

As spaza shop registrations continue, compliance concerns have been at the epicentre. This follows numerous foodborne illness cases nationwide, including a tragic incident in Gauteng last year where 23 children died after consuming snacks bought from spaza shops. During the last Gauteng Provincial government update, over 17 000 spaza shops have registered in the province. Spaza shops and food handling outlet owners without registration documents had until the 28th of February to comply.

The Hawks have confirmed that four dockets of High Treason have been opened following accusations of the spread of misleading information in the United States on South Africa’s Expropriation Act. The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party and other parties or individuals are said to have registered the complaints following allegations that US President Donald Trump was misled about the land issue. This led to Trump attacking South Africa, accusing it of human rights abuses against Afrikaners.

The High Court in Pretoria has again heard that there were no bank transactions made by Kelly Khumalo to all of the accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial. Lead investigator Brigadier Bongani Gininda who returned to the stand in cross-examination, however, reiterated that there were monies exchanged between the accused. Gininda also still insists that Meyiwa’s murder was a contractual killing ordered by Kelly Khumalo.
