LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A bill meant to bolster school safety by allowing Kentucky school districts to hire retired law enforcement officers or military veterans to work as armed guardians is on it's way to Gov. Andy Beshear. In the last few minutes of session on Thursday, March 28, the Kentucky Senate passed Senate Bill 2. The school safety bill would allow local school boards to hire and assign guardians at schools. Their hiring would be optional for local boards.

If no one hits the jackpot, it will continue to grow. The jackpot marks the fifth time a Powerball prize has reached that level, game officials said in a news release.

High-speed internet access coming to hundreds of homes in rural Jefferson County

FISHERVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Nearly 2,000 homes in east Jefferson County are getting access to high-speed internet for the first time. On Monday, city leaders announced that local and federal dollars will pay for a $7.5 million construction project to get gigabit broadband service to rural parts of Jefferson County. Spectrum Internet will be available in more than 1,800 homes within the next year.
