NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- A church that once symbolized hope to enslaved people continues to try and right what is wrong. Second Baptist Church has been on New Albany's Main Street since before the Civil War. The church is located across the river from Louisville, which in the 1850's, was home to hundreds of enslaved people. Jerry Finn, with Friends of Town Clock Church, said the congregation of the 1850's was committed to helping enslaved people find freedom.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Yard signs are in the ground and candidates are hitting the campaign trail with Democrat and Republican primaries less than six weeks away. There are 13 Louisville Metro Council seats at stake this year in a primary that could be the last of its kind. Six of those seats will be effectively decided in this year's primary. When the city of Louisville and Jefferson County voted to merge, the people approved partisan mayoral and council races.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky Derby is one month from Thursday, and while the attention will be directed to the action on the track, the homes closest to Churchill Downs are also preparing for Derby 150. Councilwoman Jennifer Chappell, D-15, represents several neighborhoods in the area, including Lucky Horseshoe. The neighborhood only has around 430 homes, but its boundaries include Churchill Downs.
