LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jefferson County Public Schools Superintendent Marty Pollio spent the last day of his last school year in charge of Kentucky's largest school district visiting with students. Pollio, who will take over as president of Ivy Tech Community College when he steps down from the district this summer, began his Friday at Wilder Elementary School, which was also the first school he ever visited when he was appointed in 2017.

Share LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Jefferson County Board of Education voted 5-2 Thursday in favor of beginning contract negotiations with a superintendent finalist. The board met at 5 p.m. to discuss the two finalists for the superintendent position. JCPS board members Linda Duncan and Taylor Everett were the two who voted against entering the contract negotiations. The board didn't share which candidate it's negotiating with at this time.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Metro Police Department is looking for a woman accused of preying on and robbing an 85-year-old woman at a Louisville Walmart. Mary Wright, 85, said she was going about her business shopping at Walmart off of Preston Highway, south of the Outer Loop. As she was loading her items into her car, that's when she says she was targeted and robbed.

LONDON, Ky. (WDRB) -- Survivors of severe weather in eastern Kentucky have begun the long process of recovery after a deadly tornado hit the area. The National Weather Service's preliminary investigation shows a possible EF3 tornado with 140 mph winds hit Laurel County. At least 19 people in Kentucky have died from the severe weather, according to Gov. Andy Beshear.
