For a series that seemingly checked all the boxes, the No. 4 University of Hawai‘i men's volleyball team's series against No. 1 Long Beach State somehow ended up delivering more than fans bargained for. The Rainbow Warriors and The Beach battled for two consecutive nights in front of sold-out crowds, providing spectators with high level displays of volleyball throughout the weekend.

They call it goosebumps where Lee Leslie is from. In Hawai‘i, the sensation he felt on the Kahuku team bus is more commonly referred to as chicken skin. Leslie only spent one year as the head football coach of the Red Raiders, departing his native Idaho to coach the school's storied program for the 2014 season. On a drive back from Aloha Stadium, he turned around from his seat to watch members of the team sing the school's alma mater unprompted in unison.

High stakes, emotions, and one of the sport's great rivalries. The No. 4 University of Hawai‘i's men's volleyball team's upcoming home series against No. 1 Long Beach State checks just about every box. Over the course of two nights at the Stan Sheriff Center, the two teams atop both the NCAA RPI and Big West standings will battle for positioning two weeks prior to the conference tournament.

The University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa has officially posted its opening for its vacant athletics director position. New UH president Wendy Hensel, who began her tenure on Jan. 1, announced a 10-person search committee in mid-March. Parker Executive Search, a national firm, is assisting UH in the process. It remains Hensel's goal to have a new AD in place in the summer. “This process is designed to be thorough, transparent and inclusive,” Hensel said in a statement.

University of Hawai‘i baseball coach Rich Hill likes to say all will be revealed prior to a series. That sentiment will carry the most relevance it has all year when the Rainbow Warriors embark on a road trip that consists of eight games in 11 days, starting with a midweek game at Santa Clara on Tuesday. From there, the 'Bows will play consecutive road series at the two teams atop the Big West Conference standings, sandwiched by a midweek game at USC on April 15.
