The district announced Wednesday that it had tentative deals with the cities of Apopka, Ocoee, Winter Garden and Winter Park, along with the town of Windermere.     VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - Crews are battling a 100-acre brush fire kicking up a lot of smoke near Deltona. The fire was reported Tuesday afternoon near the Deep Creek Preserve. That's south of State Road 44 and east of I-4. The fire is not burning near any homes, but the smoke plume is huge. Crews are working on containment lines. The fire happened on the same day that Volusia County Fire Rescue announced an outdoor burn ban because of high drought conditions.

    LAKE COUNTY, Fla. - Crews are working to contain a brush fire in a rural area south of downtown Groveland. The fire is along Mattioda Road, south of State Road 50. The fire is estimated to be about 13 acres in size and has damaged one structure in the area and several vehicles. Crews are working on containment lines, but there are concerns about gusting winds and what officials called erratic fire behavior.

City officials tell News 6 that they're getting input from surrounding cities to come up with best practices for a backyard chicken program. City commissioners will get an update during the next work session on April 28 at city hall at 4 p.m.Currently, Sanford city code does not allow people to keep chickens within 150 feet of any dwelling, house, apartment, or garage apartment.

    ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer insists the city is following federal and state immigration law, one day after Florida's attorney general threatened to remove Dyer from office over a city policy. On Monday, Attorney General James Uthmeier called Orlando's Trust Act police "unlawful" and a "sanctuary policy."The 2018 Trust Act policy prohibits employees or police from asking a law-abiding person about their immigration status.
