Bride, 29, opened the season 4-for-40 with no extra-base hits, 15 strikeouts and five walks in parts of 12 games. He had an uneven Grapefruit League performance, going 8-for-41 (.195) with one double, one triple, one homer, six strikeouts and 11 walks. Sánchez, who sustained a left oblique strain on March 13 on a check-swing double, started in center field in his season debut. He went 3-for-10 with one double, one walk and three strikeouts in three rehab games for Triple-A Jacksonville.

MIAMI -- The Marlins placed Opening Day catcher Nick Fortes on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Thursday) with a Grade 1 left oblique strain ahead of Friday’s 7-4 series opening loss to the Nationals. In corresponding moves, Miami selected the contract of veteran Rob Brantly from Triple-A Jacksonville and right-hander Xzavion Curry was designated for assignment to create space on the 40-man roster.
