Long Beach’s Cambodian community gathered at the Mark Twain Library – in the heart of Cambodia Town – to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Cambodian genocide. The United Cambodian Community hosted the remembrance event on Thursday, April 17, which drew about 60 people. Long Beach became a second home for Cambodians in the early 1980s – when hundreds of thousands of refugees flocked to the United States seeking safety from the brutality of the communist Khmer Rouge.
