In February, I attended the Food Network South Beach Wine and Food Festival (SoBeWFF), a four-day extravaganza with talented chefs from all over the country. Held in Miami, this festival benefits culinary students from the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Florida International University. It is a major fundraiser for the school and has raised more than $40 million dollars.

This week, the James Beard Foundation announced their finalists for the prestigious culinary James Beard Awards. Grand Junction’s Josh Niernberg is one of five chefs in the United States to make the list for Outstanding Chef. This is an extraordinary achievement. The talented Niernberg and his wonderful team have created something truly terrific with the new Bin 707. Located in downtown Grand Junction at 400 Main St., the restaurant features a beautifully renovated interior in an historic building.
