On June 12, Filipino Independence Day, the hood in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood got a little stronger. Rudy Corpuz, the founder of United Playaz – a violence prevention and youth development organization – along with community members and local politicians, were on hand for the opening for UP's new building at 1044 Howard Street. United Playaz is expanding right next door to its original location. It's a violence prevention and youth development organization.

This weekend is graduation at Stanford. The keynote for Saturday's medical school ceremony is a Stanford doctor, professor and now patient. Dr. Bryant Lin is fighting stage four lung cancer. "Eventually got an X-ray, big white area here in my right lung," Lin said. "I got two tumors in my lung, a tumor in my liver and in my bones, but I’m not in pain." Before there is a dress rehearsal on the theater stage, NBC Bay Area's cameras were invited for rehearsals inside ACT's rehearsal studio in downtown San Francisco. The visionaries behind "Co-Founders" are Ryan Nicole Austin, Beau Lewis, Adesha Adessela and director Jami Jude, who is helping to bring it to life.
