Ghazi, a Palestinian American, has created one of the most powerful independent companies in the global music business. His studio, in the city's South of Market neighborhood, is a dream for the modern-day version of a music industry pioneer. Ghazi founded Empire in 2010. "I could never even afford to rent a room in a studio like this when I was getting started," he said.

They call themselves the "dream team" in the restaurant business. Golden State Warriors' star Draymond Green is teaming up with Chef Nelson German and restaurateur Guma Fassil to bring a new, unique dining and food experience to San Francisco's Lower Nob Hill neighborhood. German already owns two restaurants in Oakland: alaMar Dominican Kitchen and Sobre Mesa, an Afro-Latino kitchen. Fassil took over his family's restaurant, Meskie's, in Berkeley. It serves traditional Ethiopian food.

She is a rape survivor, Nobel Peace Prize nominee and now astronaut. Amanda Nguyen will be part of a historic all-female crew expected to lift off to space this spring. Journalist Gayle King and singer Katy Perry will also be onboard. Nguyen fought on a global stage, passing the Sexual Assault Survivors' Bill of Rights in both Congress and the United Nations. Her inspiring story is coming out in a new memoir, "Saving Five: A Memoir of Hope," set to be released Tuesday.

Oakland's Mark Sadusky wants to see more people that look like him competing at a high level. One of the newest members of Team USA figure skating, Sadusky struggled with being different in the sport. But, he's embracing that journey on and off the ice. NBC Bay Area caught up with the Team USA pairs figure skater practicing on his home ice rink, Oakland Ice Center. The 27-year-old moved to Colorado four years ago to train. This is Sadusky's first season on Team USA.
