    NORFOLK, Va. — Law enforcement in Virginia Beach and Norfolk laced up for a good cause on Wednesday morning and ran for the Virginia Special Olympics' annual Law Enforcement Torch Run. The torch run began in Virginia Beach with the police department and sheriff's office and saw a handoff at the Virginia Beach/Norfolk city line with the Norfolk Police Department, sheriff's office, and Old Dominion University Police Department.

    NORFOLK, Va. — The homecomings continue as thousands of sailors are making their way back to Hampton Roads following an extended deployment to the Middle East. The latest ship to return is the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG 64), which is expected to arrive Friday at Naval Station Norfolk. The crew of the Gettysburg left Norfolk last September as part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group.

    NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Police said they've made an arrest in the murder of a Newport News woman. On the night of April 30, police were called to the 600 block of Antrim Drive for a report of an unresponsive person. First responders arrived to find 28-year-old Imani Parrish, who was not breathing. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said that due to the nature of Parrish's injuries, her death is being investigated as a homicide.

    KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. — A Kill Devil Hills firefighter is recovering after getting hurt battling a house fire over the weekend. Fire crews were called to a fire in the 300 block of West Arch Street around 3 p.m. Sunday. Officials say the fire started on the home's front deck and quickly spread to both floors. Firefighters worked to contain the fire to the second floor, but the home sustained significant smoke, fire, and water damage.

    COURTLAND, Va. — A man is accused of causing a crash after driving while intoxicated, which sent several people to the hospital. The two-vehicle crash happened in the 28000 block of Southampton Parkway on Sunday afternoon. The Southampton County Sheriff's Office said three people were taken to the hospital, including one patient who had to be airlifted. The other two patients were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
