SUFFOLK, Va. — Two people were displaced after a fire broke out inside a Suffolk home on Tuesday morning. Suffolk Fire and Rescue said they received a call for a fire in the 1000 block of Babbtown Road shortly before 10 a.m. Crews arrived minutes later, finding heavy smoke coming from a two-story house. Two occupants safely got outside before their arrival. Firefighters said the home sustained heavy fire and smoke.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A convicted sex offender has been arrested again, accused of possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material. According to a federal affidavit, authorities were notified in June 2024 by the website Medialab.ai, Inc. that media files containing child sexual abuse material were found on their server. An investigation determined a Kik messaging app account tied to a Virginia Beach IP address had uploaded child pornography.

FBI arrests over 200 people in nationwide child sex sting

NORFOLK, Va. — The Department of Justice and the FBI announced the arrests of more than 200 people in a child sex abuse crackdown on Wednesday. The coordinated effort between the DOJ and FBI was called Operation Restore Justice, and 115 children were rescued as a result. Of the 205 arrests, the Norfolk FBI Office said it apprehended three people as part of the operation, including Xavier Stafford of Williamsburg, who allegedly threatened to sexually abuse a police officer's young family member.
