Shipping containers are put in place along the U.S.-Mexico border in Cochise County. In 2022, Arizona spent $196 million on a border wall built by stacking about 2,200 shipping containers – about half to install it and the rest to take it down five months later. On Thursday, House Republicans approved $12 billion to reimburse states for border security spending during Joe Biden’s presidency.

In 1960, the U.S. Air Force began constructing 54 launch complexes for the new Titan II missile system. The ICBMs were controlled by three Air Force Bases in the U.S., including Davis-Monthan in Tucson. During the life of the program, 18 missile silos, control rooms, and sets of living quarters surrounded Tucson. All but one were destroyed to fulfill a treaty with the Soviet Union. The one remaining facility is the Titan Missile Museum in Green Valley.

To say the recently ended winter was dry would be a bit of an understatement. The Tucson area experienced its second driest winter ever, with about a quarter of an inch of rain. That's roughly one tenth of the area's average.
