No. 9 Rummel and No. 8 John Curtis will face each other in the regional round of the LHSAA baseball playoffs next week, as shown when the LHSAA released playoff brackets on Tuesday. The best-of-three series between the two District 9-5A schools will be a rematch from when Curtis beat Rummel in the state semifinals last season. Curtis won that game 2-1 with a squeeze bunt in the bottom of the 11th inning. The schools split their two regular-season games this season.

Brother Martin and Shaw won team bowling state championships Thursday — and did it with a dose of drama. Both teams overcame uncomfortable deficits and ultimately came away with victories in the LHSAA state finals at Premier Lanes in Gonzales, where Brother Martin topped Slidell in Division I and Shaw defeated Belle Chasse in Division II. No. 1 seeded Brother Martin made a comeback over the final two games and won 14-13 after No. 2 Slidell led 7-1 after the first game.
