PROVIDENCE – In Rhode Island, there’s a new spin on grabbing dinner to go. The state Department of Environmental Management this week announced a new regulation to allow the public to collect roadkill with a permit. According to the agency, the move comes after lawmakers expanded state law to include animals other than deer as roadkill that can be salvaged and consumed. The agency said it received 1,347 reports of deer vehicle collisions last year.
